Longer soccer seasons compared to the college season in the United States. The average U.K. soccer season will run from September through to May.
Compete In Local Leagues
As well as representing your university in BUCS Fixtures (the UK’s version of the NCAA/NAIA), many universities also enter teams in local leagues or link players with local clubs to give players further opportunities to compete.
Complete Your Degree Quicker
U.K. university degrees are typically quicker to complete compared to America courses. A bachelor’s degree will take student’s 3 years to complete whereas a masters degree will take just 1 year, making efficient use of your time. Should a student wish to spend their entire college career in the U.K. they could complete both an undergraduate degree and masters degree in four years!
More Competition
Most U.K. universities will have multiple men’s and women’s soccer teams, rather than just the one varsity team. You will have the opportunity to train and compete with a wider range of players.
Different Eligibility Rules
Student who may have not been eligible for NCAA or NAIA competition due to gaps in education or for academic reasons may still be eligible to compete. Student-athletes who have previously exhausted their eligibility in the United States are permitted to continue competing alongside their master’s degree!
